Description
The Lottie Cooper was launched in Manitowoc, WI, 30 Mar 1876 and was named for the daughter of one of the original owners. The vessel was 131 feet long, 27 feet wide, 9 feet in depth, and measured 250 gross tons. She represents a historic period when thousands of steam vessels worked the dangerous waters of the Great Lakes.
In 1990, before the construction of the Marina, the wreck of a wooden ship was located on the harbor floor and identified as the Lottie Cooper. The remains were approximately 15 feet under water. The city of Sheboygan dredged the marina to remove the wreckage and later decided to display the Lottie Cooper.
